Micro Sports
Micro Sports
Knucklebones is proud to offer tailored micro sports for ages 2 through 5. These activities are designed for a wide variety of skill ranges, introduce basic fundamentals, and, of course, we engage in game play.
Our activity areas are:
*Athletics: Not only do we to teach children the fundamentals of sports, we want to help build confidence and develop a passion for athletics and fitness that will stay with them for life! Playing games such as: Wheel Steal, Kinball, Flag Wag, and Guards as well as bringing a plethora of unique equipment, we will provide a diverse and fulfilling athletic program that focuses on skills, gross motor development, physical fitness & fun! Of course, we’ll play traditional games such as baseball and basketball but with a twist to make sure everyone is being challenged, moving, learning new skills, strategizing and having a blast!
*Basketball: This clinic focuses on the basic fundamentals beginning with dribbling, shooting, passing and catching as well as defense. Using age appropriate equipment the class will enable your child to learn at their own pace while having a blast! Each class will be structured with stretching, learning a skill, rule of the day, skill game and finally a fun filled game for all to enjoy. Sneakers are required.
*Gymnastics: The Gymnastics curriculum focuses on fundamental language, creative and rhythmic movement, flexibility, and skills of gymnastic levels 1-4. Participants will acquire and develop the proper progression of skills through various apparatus including: beam and balancing stones, bar, mats, spring board, trampolines, Action products, and numerous other components emphasizing gross motor and skill development. KB prides itself on engaging children through cooperative play in a carefully designed circuit of gymnastic activities.
*Soccer: Children will learn the beginning skills, technique and etiquette of soccer. Starting with soft Rhino Skin balls, slowly moving up to size 3 soccer balls, children actively engage in learning everything from passing and kicking, to heading and dribbling skills. Each class structure is the same; beginning with a short discussion of the game of soccer, stretching and calisthenics, skill lesson, followed by soccer activities and a soccer game. You will be amazed and your child will feel empowered as they improve throughout this session.
*T-Ball: Each day will bring a steady progression of t-ball skills and game play. Starting off with t-stands we’ll quickly progress to underhand pitching, all the while, practicing fielding skills. From understanding basic rules and batting technique to knowing when to run and how to “play the field”, children will gain the essence of the game and have fun while playing in mock games. The last day will be the most fun as the little big leaguers will take on the parents/guardians in a game for bragging rights.
*Wheels: Through a developmental array of scooters and balance bicycles the Wheels program culminates in having children attempting to ride a bicycle on their very own. Each class will have a variety of wheeled, self-propelled, vehicles that will be used to gain balance, confidence, and have a lot of fun. Obstacle courses, street signs and varied activities will all help these determined drivers to trust themselves as they look forward to actually riding a bicycle all by themselves.
Teachers and parents are always amazed how much their children learn, improve in the sport, become more athletic, and more importantly, have fun!
“The KB staff were very enthusiastic, had lots of energy and did great with the kids.”
